A Horse! A Horse! My Kingdom for a Horse!

By latetotheraid

When you roll up a character in WoW you should be shown the mount you will get when you reach Level 40. I might have thought twice about rolling up a Blue Kangaroo . As it is, I am currently a Level 44 Drenai Hunter with pushing 300 gold in the bank and still running around on foot. All because I am too prideful and stubborn to settle for a dumb, fruity, clunky, chunky Elekk. Let the gnomes have them. I want a wolf like the Orcs get to ride, or a nightsaber like the Nightelves. But what would be really cool to have is one of those gorgeous brown horses with white fetlocks and blazing hoofs. Can’t have it, I know ,but the next best thing is become exalted with Stormwind and at least get a regular looking horse. At least until I can get a Black War Steed.

What does it take to become exalted with Stormwind? 21,000 points. That is a lot of running around on dribbly nosed low level npc quests. I am only a little over a third of the way there which means a lot more running around on foot. So this prideful, stubborn Hunter spent (some might say squandered) two talent points on maxing out Aspect of the Cheetah in order to get places faster and not feel quite so grumped when those over 40 guys on their Elekks pass me by.

Ya know, Mom, you COULD buy the dumb, fruity, clunky, chunky elekk to get you to all those low level quests a whole lot faster. It would only cost you 9 gold as the most expensive part is the riding skill, not the critter :-)
    (PLEASE think about this)

Welcome to the great fun world of blogging! Oddly enough, mounts must be a thing where people always want the one thing they specifically can not get easily – I have many human friends who ride elekks. Personally, I am still in love with what I consider to be the very best mount in the world – my dreadsteed!

Best of luck with the rep grind – bug your friends for cloth! Always works a treat ;)

I’ll second the cloth comment. It’s a slow grind, but you can first turn in wool, then silk, then mageweave (I believe) before you get stuck turn in piles and piles of runecloth. You’re at the level where runecloth should start dropping soon, so save save save and when you are next in Stormwind, look for the Alliance cloth quartermaster. A combination of doing those ‘dribbly nose’ quests and cloth turn-ins can be quite fast. ALSO look for the seasonal quests… as many of those give “Alliance” reputation gains to all the factions. ^_^
